Tyler Robinson is an American who was arrested as a suspect in the shooting of Charlie Kirk.[1] Charlie Kirk was shot when speaking at Utah Valley University, on September 10, 2025, and Robinson was arrested, at his home, 33 hours later, at approximately 10pm September 11.[2] Robinson was arrested after his father told law enforcement officials he said he shot Kirk.[3]
According to the The Wall Street Journal authorities found bullet casing with suspicious messages.[3][4]

The authorities identified him as Tyler Robinson, and said that he had made statements to relatives suggesting he had committed the crime.

Cox said Robinson confessed to a family member who reached out to a friend Thursday night, who then contacted the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Robinson was taken into custody around 10 p.m. that night, after a 33-hour manhunt, FBI Director Kash Patel said Friday.

FBI Director Kash Patel, who said a “subject for the horrific shooting” was in custody as of 6:21 p.m. EDT, provided an update in a 7:59 p.m. EDT tweet, saying the person “has been released after an interrogation by law enforcement.” According to the New York Times, this individual was the second person detained and later released by law enforcement authorities after questioning.
