In 1971, Philip Zimbardo of Stanford University conducted a famous experiment known as the Stanford Prison Experiment.

The purpose of the Stanford Prison Experiment was to discover "what happens when you put good people in an evil place." Zimbardo wondered, "Does humanity win over evil, or does evil triumph?" These were some of the questions Zimbardo posed in his "dramatic simulation of prison life conducted in the summer of 1971 at Stanford University."

Zimbardo was obliged to terminate his planned 14-day exeriment after only six days, because his guards had became sadistic and his prisoners were becoming depressed and showing signs of extreme stress.

Because of these disturbing outcomes, the Stanford Prison Experiment has never been replicated.

That is, it's never been replicated until now.

One of the (former) Trustees of Reed College has undertaken to reprise a version of the Stanford Prison Experiment in the context of a social networking community known as Wikipedia Review.

"Gomi no Sensei" (Japanese for "Master of Junk") is the avatar name of the Warden of the Ninja College Prison Experiment, which Gomi (with the consent of the staff of Wikipedia Review) has conceived and initiated.

The Ninja College Prison Experiment began on September 9th, 2010 and is currently still in progress as of this writing (September 22, 2010). So as of this writing, the Reed College Prison Experiment has run as long as the Stanford Prison Experiment was originally planned to run.
