Welcome to Encyc![edit]

Butterfly built a snowman!

Hello, DoveWindsor, and welcome to Encyc! Thank you for your contributions. Here are a few pages you might find helpful:

You can visit the community portal to ask questions or seek help.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out community portal, ask me on my talk page, or ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 13:41, 12 May 2019 (CDT)

I got this.[edit]

Thanks, but I have to protect a ton of pages to keep RandomUser34 from going on a rampage. Alexander (talk) 12:57, 12 May 2019 (CDT)

@User talk:Alexander So you don't need help to make things quicker? Double help means twice as quick. I'd love to be an admin. Whatever it takes to make this wiki a user-made encyclopedia, and not a playground for vandals. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 13:00, 12 May 2019 (CDT)

I see your talk page is lonely.[edit]

(continued from my talk page) Yes, blocking new account creation would do that. Mass-protecting pages works in a pinch. I do what I'm able to. Whatever works, right? I made the protection time something crazy then adjusted it down. Alexander (talk) 13:43, 12 May 2019 (CDT)

If I was you, I'd protect those pages indef. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 13:45, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
If only it were that easy. Protecting pages protects them from the original editor too. So he won't be able to edit them. Can't have it both ways. Alexander (talk) 13:50, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Supposedly true. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 13:54, 12 May 2019 (CDT)

Suggestion for welcome template[edit]

A border is cool though but pink is too bright. Maybe just no background, but that's my thoughts. Alexander (talk) 14:03, 12 May 2019 (CDT)

How about fuchsia? DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:04, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Ugh, no. I liked light blue, but that's just my opinion. Alexander (talk) 14:09, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
I suppose. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:11, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
I'm liking it so far. Alexander (talk) 14:18, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Cool! Just my opinion, templates are meant to be protected, right? DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:19, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Yes. If you're finished editing it. Alexander (talk) 14:23, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
I don't think that anything else needs to be added to it. It already looks perfect! I'd protect it from vandals and other spammers. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:25, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
It seems semi-protecting something does absolutely nothing so I have to fully protect. So that's done. Alexander (talk) 14:27, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Nice. I'll just need to wait to become an admin, in order for me to edit protected pages. For now, I'll just improve unprotected pages. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:30, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Good plan. Alexander (talk) 14:33, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Are you English or American? I presume that you know the actor, David Tennant. He was the 10th doctor in Doctor Who. On Encyc, do you have to put things in your own words? DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:35, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
I'd like to request that my page and new wiki Wikiphoria to be renamed to me, Dove Windsor. Thanks! DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:39, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Neither. You haven't hit on the right country yet. Of English descent, though, and that always counts.
Yes, I know who DT is.:D I'm a Whovian, it's expected to know these things.
Unless the material is copyrighted, in which case, you cannot quote it. It depends where the info came from, but it's usually nice to cite your sources.
I'm not sure what you're asking. Renamed, as in moved to your userspace? User:DoveWindsor/whatever ? Alexander (talk) 14:43, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Requested Wikiphoria to be deleted. I moved the content to Dove Windsor. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:44, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
You do that and you lose the edit history. Could've just asked me to move it. Confirm you really want it deleted and not moved, please. Alexander (talk) 14:46, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Please delete it, Wikiphoria. I already moved my content to Dove Windsor, so I'm not going to lose anything. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:49, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Okay, will do. Alexander (talk) 14:50, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
Thanks! Please, feel free to edit my article. Just go to http://wikiphoria.shoutwiki.com to see any new updates there and add it to Dove Windsor. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 14:51, 12 May 2019 (CDT)
As a thought, you might want to fix pages that link to the old location or not. Alexander (talk) 14:52, 12 May 2019 (CDT)

By Request[edit]

Since you requested content, Dove; here's a copy of what I just put on Alexander's:

Thanks for services rendered. Good to have you with us, Dove. I commpiled a cookbook from family recipes and it includes some great desserts, Dove. But your site is quite classy and I don't have appropriate photos of the finished products. Also, I sent Auggie some paragraphs from upcoming books on evolution of color vision and the color of the Sun as perceived by humans (and possible extraterrestrials AMONG US, LURKING), with trichromatic (three types of color cones) vision. If you're interested, I could either email them to you both or make a page. Dove, what is the basis for your handle? Are you a descendant of the House of Windsor, or did your family make its billions as developer of Dove soap? Back of lawn mowing day. Drlesmgolden (talk) 15:19, 12 May 2019 (CDT)

@User talk:Drlesmgolden Lol! I wish. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 15:35, 12 May 2019 (CDT)

That is probably not such a good idea[edit]

Between you and me (and now all of Encyc), I would refrain from putting personal life stuff online where anyone can read it.

That's really not a good idea. You never know who could be reading it. When I was younger, I learned the hard way not to do this. Without getting into details, it came to bite me in the ass later. Your experiences may be different than mine but better to be safe. There are always idiots and trolls out there, I'm sure you know that as well as I do, and they won't be so caring about feelings, only what they can get from you. Just some friendly advice, feel free to take it or ignore it. Alexander (talk) 08:36, 13 May 2019 (CDT)

@User talk:Alexander So, I just remove the personal life section. Biographies on Wikipedia have personal life sections, even Jimbo Wales. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 09:23, 13 May 2019 (CDT)
Yes but... I don't know, you do you but I'm not convinced publishing personal info is ever a good idea. Ignore my paranoia, probably. Alexander (talk) 09:36, 13 May 2019 (CDT)
Also, if Random's replying to Auggie, actually being reasonable and not counterproductive, it's more counterproductive to revert him. Just a thought. That's how you make a bad situation (that's in the process of getting better) even worse. Gotta read what was said before you act, if you don't mind my saying so. If it's in the process of blowing over, you could be doing more damage. I would leave it alone. Alexander (talk) 09:48, 13 May 2019 (CDT)
Alright then, but he was the one that shouldn't be allowed here. He has multiple of sockpuppets. He should be blocked indef. Anymore future sockpuppets from him will also be blocked. Once a sockpuppet, always a sockpuppet. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 10:15, 13 May 2019 (CDT)
Nothing's ever that simple as 'no you broke the rules'. Sometimes life isn't that absolute. There are gray areas and circumstances we don't know about, which I agree, they have nothing to do with us. There could be personal life stuff we don't know about. That's how they behave on Wikipedia - they only care about breakages of the rules, they don't even try to look into context, they only get one person's side, etc. We don't have to be like that. If a situation can be resolved without blocking, that's a win. Might be too soon to say just yet, but I want to see where this goes. Auggie's nicer and more approachable than I am, even if I'm nicer and more approachable than I used to be. I could never do what he does, that's too peopley for me. Alexander (talk) 10:26, 13 May 2019 (CDT)

Are you ok?[edit]

Noticing some strange edits you're making lately. Is everything okay?

Please take a break from Encyc if there are real life issues. You remember what happened last time with you creating fake pages. Alexander (talk) 09:55, 13 June 2019 (CDT)

@User talk:Alexander I have bought a book called The Science Of Self-realization. His Devine Grace: A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. He is an Indian spritiual leader. The book focuses you on yoga and peace. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 10:04, 13 June 2019 (CDT)
Simply buying a book doesn't make you "a British spiritual teacher". You do know this, right? Factual information, please. You promised. You really need to address this tendency to post false information. It doesn't count if you aspire to be something. So I repeat, what's wrong? You don't usually do this. Alexander (talk) 10:06, 13 June 2019 (CDT)
Listen! I got called over from a person in town today, telling me about this spiritual book, and asking me to join this temple at 6. Please, delete the page, Dove Windsor. I can put the info to my sandbox (testing page). Les Golden's article is all not true info. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 10:12, 13 June 2019 (CDT)
Seriously can you not with Les? You don't know him and neither do I. I'd rather not have this conversation.
Simply buying a book doesn't make you any sort of expert. You really have to address this tendency to post false information if you really want to be an admin here. I think at minimum, accuracy should be a thing. Alexander (talk) 10:14, 13 June 2019 (CDT)
OK! Do you even know what a sandbox is? It is a personal place where you can put whatever you want on there. It doesn't disrupt a project on false info. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 10:16, 13 June 2019 (CDT)
I've been an admin here for longer than ten years (including under a different username), FYI. It's pretty safe to assume I know something. ;)
That's really not the point and that is not what I said. Don't post false information and self-regulation should be a thing (I was trying to give advice and failed) was my point. I don't know how you could've misread that any other way but my apologies. I didn't come here to argue with you, I came here to help. Obviously, my intentions were misread. My point was, you should be more self-aware there's a problem before you do things like this, and take a break. Self-regulation. That's my advice, take it or leave it. Alexander (talk) 10:19, 13 June 2019 (CDT)
@User talk:Alexander I take it! I am posting true information about A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 10:27, 13 June 2019 (CDT)

Thanks, Dove[edit]

Les[edit]

Hi Dove. Thanks for your help with vandals. Rather than give them satisfaction that they are wasting our time, it's best to let Alexander and Auggie know and after the guy is blocked then help them with reconstruction. As far as veracity, everything I put into encyc is true, including stuff about me. Awards, writing and acting gigs, animal activism, college degrees, publications, etc., all true to my recollection. Maybe you're referring to Never Split Tens movie. It's hard to get financing for a movie. But we've done some casting both with an agency and by personal contact, location scouting, particularly have secured a casino for shooting the gambling scenes, script rewrites, and have a couple veterans interested in directing. Even contacted James Caan's agent for the role of Manny Kimmel, but he wanted only $1 million for a few scenes. So have faith. Most importantly, as Auggie wrote, stay well. Les 18:00, 16 June 2019 (CDT)

Oops, sorry. It was Alexander who wished you well. But I'm sure Auggie, as well as I, do the same. 18:37, 16 June 2019 (CDT)

You don't make the rules[edit]

No. You can't just claim you're exempt from the rules. If I can't make the rules, you certainly can't either. I don't know if you're just testing us to see how we react but it's not amusing. You aren't in any position to change the rules. Don't do that again. Alexander (talk) 05:19, 19 June 2019 (CDT)

@User talk:Alexander Sorry about that! So you can't redirect the page Dove Windsor to Libregamewiki? Why does Les have to keep his article? Do you have time to edit my wiki? DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 05:22, 19 June 2019 (CDT)
I should hope so.
I already explained this in my comment on Auggie's page. Please read it again. We're not going to argue this all day. He's a notable person. A quick Google search would confirm that he's written a book, amongst other things. I'm really not happy that you keep claiming everything he says is a lie (not in so many words). I don't claim to be the authority on that subject, but I'd say at least writing a book makes one notable. Again, doing this lowers you to the level of Random. Something an aspiring admin shouldn't be doing, they should be enforcing the rules, not making up exceptions.
I didn't say I wasn't going to do anything. I'd appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth and instead, actually give me a chance to answer before you ju,p to conclusions. Do you know what time it is where I am? Alexander (talk) 05:29, 19 June 2019 (CDT)

Spelling[edit]

Before you go on my talk page and start picking apart edits you think I made, please pay attention to who made them in the first place and the actual spelling. That was Auggie, not me, and it's 100% spelled correctly. I know how to spell, thanks. Not appreciated. Thank you. — Alexander (talk) 18:17, 20 June 2019 (CDT)

Alex[edit]

@User talk:Alexander I meant the spelling in the description box said "disaboled". DoveWindsor (Talk to me!) 10:17, 21 June 2019 (CDT)

Still not seeing it. I've since checked every edit of mine on the main page, that typo doesn't exist. Regardless, you could've been more specific from the start, pointed out exactly where it was (with a link) and found a better way of letting me know that isn't 'jumping on me for a typo'. — Alexander (talk) 21:11, 21 June 2019 (CDT)

"New" Encyc?[edit]

Surely you must be aware that there are perhaps some ethical issues in creating an alternate version of an already active wiki (without asking management) and passing it off as your own, aren't you? — Alexander (talk) 13:50, 19 July 2019 (CDT)

Wear it with pride.[edit]

Wear that 'I was banned from Wikipedia' badge with pride. If you own it (and you know most of us were as well), and you know many of those admins are power-hungry dictators anyway, you can laugh when that's all people can dig up to use against you.

No, I won't tell you why I was. In case you ask. — Alexander (talk) 18:29, 24 July 2019 (CDT)
