Willy Pogany

Willy Pogany (1882-1955) was an American painter and book illustrator.

Born in Hungary, he moved to the USA in 1915. His first big success was an illustrated edition of Gulliver's Travels (1917). His 1929 edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was an important step in the development of Art Deco.

He worked regularly with Padraic Colum.
