Wilson Barrett

Wilson Barrett (1846-1904) was an English actor, theatre manager and writer, born in Essex.

His best-known work was The Sign of the Cross (1896), a religious melodrama. He himself adapted it for the stage. It was filmed in 1932 by Cecil B. de Mille, starring Frederic March, Charles Laughton and Claudette Colbert.
