Woody Woodpecker

From Encyc

Woody Woodpecker is a cartoon character. The cartoons were made in Hollywood during the 1940s and 50s, and continue to be on television to this day. They feature a hyperactive fun-loving woodpecker, with a manic laugh. Occasionally he is opposed by Buzz Buzzard.

Mel Blanc did some of the voices, and Chuck Jones directed some episodes. Tex Avery produced.

Woody was the eighth child in his family, and he has seven older sisters. His mother was so distraught when she found out he was coming (via stork) that she hit his father over the head with a rolling pin and demanded that his father take care of Woody.

Woody Woodpecker lived a long, satisfying life pecking his way through trees. When he got too old to peck he jumped off a cliff, and landed in the Fountain of Youth. He regained his vitality and is active to this day.
