Zombie
Appearance
A zombie is a fictional human that rises from the dead to seek brains to eat. Zombies lack intelligence, but they are dangerous due to their persistence and their imperviousness to pain. They may be slow or fast moving depending on the storyteller's preference.
The word came into English after the US occupation of Haiti (n-gram) and refers to one who is undead and in the power of another. If a zombie's bòs (master) accidentally gives them a taste of salt, the zombie can break free from their control. [1]
The classic zombie movie is Night of the Living Dead.
