12AY7

12AY7 or 6072 is a vacuum tube commonly used in preamplifier sections of electric guitar amplifiers. Compared to a 12AX7 (gain factor 100), the 12AY7 has a gain factor of 45.

It is available as new old stock and also as newly manufactured tubes made in Russia and sold by Electro-Harmonix.
