Art Vandelay
Art Vandelay is a pseudonym invented by sitcom character George Costanza and referenced in 11 episodes of TV's long-running Seinfeld, often in context of George's dream job, architecture.
Vandelay references[edit]
- Costanza conceives the pseudonym in the series' third episode, " The Stakeout," as he and Jerry Seinfeld concoct an excuse to run into a woman whom Jerry hopes to ask out.

George interviewed "for a sales position. Latex salesman, the selling of latex, and latex related products. They just wouldn't give me a chance." [1] He gives Jerry's phone number — KL5-8383 — as a number for Jose Jimenez, supposedly his VI contact.. Later, at Jerry's, the phone rings, and George emerges from the bathroom, pants around his ankles, screaming "Say Vandelay Industries! Say Vandelay Industries!"
- In part one of " The Pilot," dialogue used to screen potential Georges use lines based on George's pants-down scene in "The Boyfriend."
- In " The Cadillac," Elaine covers for George, telling Susan they were meeting to discuss Vandelay, her importer/exporter friend.
- In " The Bizarro Jerry," George tells the receptionist at Brandt-Leland, where Kramer is pretending to work, that he's there to see Art Vandelay.
- In " The Serenity Now," George gets Lloyd Braun fired from Constanza & Son by pretending to sell two dozen computers by phone to Mr. Vandelay.
- In " The Puerto Rican Day," George uses the name Art Vandelay in seeking to use the washroom of a for-sale apartment after breaking an ink pen on himself.
- George and Jerry believe it's a good sign for the gang's trial when they learn the judge is named Arthur Vandelay in " The Finale."
