Benito Mussolini was a fascist dictator who ruled Italy from the 1920's until he was deposed in 1943. Following that, he was rescued by the Germans and ruled Northern Italy until the end of World War II, when he was captured by partisans, killed, and strung up along with his mistress, Clara Petacci.
