Burke County is a county in North Carolina. It is located in the Mountain region in North Carolina, though the other parts of it are Piedmont. It was formed in 1777. It was named after Thomas Burke, who was a delegate to the Continental Congress and governor of the state (1781-1782). Although the city of Hickory has small parts of it is in Burke County, many parts of Hickory are in Catawba County.[1]
