Cable television

From Encyc

Cable television is a service that has information running through wires to televisions. It offers many channels.

Cable television was created in the united states in the 1940s, and further expanded in the 1950s.

"I used to think my life was so empty. Used to think life was passing me by. I was just about ready, to curl up and die. Then one day I got a visit, from the cable company. They hooked me up, plugged me right in; now I've got cable TV." - Weird Al Yankovic.

Traditionally, cable television signals were delivered using coaxial cables (copper wire). More recently cable has been delivered by fiber optic cables (e.g. FiOS), and by satellite wirelessly.
