Captain (maritime)

In English the word Captain is used for the commander of a marine vessel.

In military service, the commander of a naval vessel, will usually be called captain, even if he commands a smaller vessel, and he holds a lower rank. In naval service only the largest vessels are commanded by an officer whose rank is Captain.
