Carno
Appearance

Carno is a village and former parish in Powys, Wales. It was in the historic county of Montgomeryshire.[1] Locally there are plans to reopen the railway station, which was closed in 1963.[2]
The name Carno derives from the Welsh word 'carnedd', meaning cairn.[3] This comes via the stream once known as the Nant Carno, which runs through the village.[4]
The current church of St John the Baptist was erected in 1863, replacing an earlier building. The original church in Carno may have head early medieval origins.[4]
To the west of the village is the Carno wind farm.
