Dowlais

Dowlais is a village just east of Merthyr Tydfil in south Wales. As of 2011 it had a population of 4,270.

Dowlais Ironworks was one of the big 4 ironworks in Merthyr Tydfil. It also had a steelworks. The site was closed in 1987.

Today not much remains of from the Victorian times when the village thrived.

In 1837 Dowlais became a parish. In 1911 it had a population of 18,112.[1]
