Eastern Europe is a region of Europe extending from approximately the Elbe River in Germany to the Ural Mountains in Russia.

It always includes Russia, Byelorussia, Ukraine, the Baltic Republics, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria, among other countries.

Depending on the context it may include parts of Central Europe such as eastern Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Albania, and the former Yugoslavia.
