Elephant
Appearance
An elephant (genus Loxodonta or Elephas) is a large, thick-skinned animal from Africa and Asia. There are 5 recognised species, the African bush, african forest, indian, sri lankan and borneo elephants - all of varied sizes. They are the most intelligent mammals after dolphins and apes.
Description
[edit | edit source]The elephants are mammals with a long, grabbing nose called a trunk. Two large, jutted-out teeth known as tusks. Large ears in the African kinds, and large legs with wrinkled knees. They only eat plants like grass, bushes, branches, fruit, roots and tree bark. They will also lick salty rocks to get a healthy amount of minerals. They have grey skin when born, but they roll in sand that makes it look brown.
