Ezra Pound

From Encyc
Ezra Pound, Italy, circa 1945

Ezra Pound was a bad poet from the early 20th century who packed his work full of obscure references so critics would think it was good. He was a fascist, antisemite, and a traitor who helped Mussolini wage war against the United States. After the war he was put in a steel cage and then moved to an insane asylum. Eventually his fans in various university English departments secured his release.

He was friends with Ernest Hemingway and T.S. Eliot. He helped Eliot to edit The Wasteland.
