Freelists

Freelists is a website where people can find and/or create mailing list. The site was started in 2000.

Theme and content

The site is for mailing lists that have a technology theme. In fact, if a user creates a mailing list, it has to be approved by the moderator before it becomes a real online forum. On this kind of mailing list, subscribers can post to boards by emailing the board's address. When they send it, the message goes to all the subscribers. It is easy to subscribe/unsubscribe from Freelists boards, and barely harder to request a board of your own, that you can moderate. List moderators and users have different settings they can adjust for their list or postings respectively.
