Gliese 3378 b

Gliese 3378 b is an exoplanet orbiting Gliese 3378, a nearby dim red dwarf star, found 25 lightyears from the Solar system.[1][2]
Initially it was assessed to be about five times the mass of Planet Earth.[3][4] More recent assessment its mass might be as little as 23 times the mass of Earth, and it orbit places it in or close to the habitable zone. It receives about 90 percent the instellation Earth receives. However, no measurements have been reported on whether an atmosphere compatible with the development of life has been detected

Nearby star Gliese 3378 is a main sequence star that fuses hydrogen atoms into helium. It is approximately 30 % of the size of Sun and temperature on its surface is around 3340 K (3067 °C), which is about 58 % of Sun's temperature.

Gliese 3378, also known as GJ 3378, LHS 1805 or TIC 322347050, is a red dwarf star located 25 light-years away in the northern constellation of Camelopardalis.

Despite the shorter orbital period, Gliese 3378b remains within the star’s habitable zone, where liquid water could exist on its surface. The lower mass increases the chance that the planet is rocky, rather than a mini-Neptune with a thick atmosphere. Its new position in the so-called “cosmic shoreline” region means it may be at risk of losing its atmosphere due to the star’s radiation, a process that can strip away gases from planets in this part of the habitable zone.

Originally, GJ 3378b was estimated to be 5.26 Earth masses, making it a sub-Neptune or super-Earth. It was also thought to take just under 25 days to travel around its star, placing it well inside the habitable zone, where the planetary temperature is acceptable for water to exist in a liquid form.
