Gradual independence of Canada
Appearance
In contrast to the United States's sudden independence there was a gradual independence of Canada, which took over 100 years. The United Kingdom retained key elements of full sovereignty.
The Dominion of Canada confederated on July 1, 1967, but Canada didn't gain the last element of Canadian sovereignty, a fully Canadian Constitution, until 1983.
Other element of sovereignty included
- The Royal Canadian Navy was founded in 1910
- Canada established its own Canadian flag in 1967
