Grokipedia is an online encyclopedia developed by Elon Musk and xAI. X user "Name" has suggested that Grokpedia would be a better title, truer to the Greek roots of the word -pedia.[1]

In September 2025, Musk announced xAI was building a new AI-generated online encyclopedia called Grokipedia.[2] According to Musk's announcement, it will be an AI-powered knowledge base designed to rival and ultimately replace Wikipedia by addressing its perceived biases, errors, and ideological slants.[3][4]

It was launched on 27 October 2025 with 885,279 articles, mostly copied from Wikipedia.[5]

Around November 2025, a new feature was added for users to suggest edits, which are accepted or rejected by Grok.

Since 24 December 2025, users have been able to suggest new articles to be created. Seemingly the requirements are very low to be accepted. Within the first day of the feature being added, over 500,000 articles were added to Grokipedia.[6]

In January 2026 it has been expanding rapidly, reaching over 6 million articles, though there are some duplicates.[7] Current AI isn't perfect so some mistakes happen. Most often it is a case of "hallucinations" or misreading sources, which are common with current AI. Very rarely the AI's internal monologue can appear in the text of the article.[8]
