Halifax, Nova Scotia is a large deep-water port on Canada's east coast. It is one of the larger container-ports in North America.

Halifax has a large international airport, significant because it lies along the great circle route from the eastern United States to Europe. It is valuable as a hub and as an emergency landing point.
