Hungary

From Encyc

Hungary is a country in Eastern Europe. It was founded by the Magyars, a nomadic people with a unique language that is unrelated to any in the area. The language is part of the Finno-Ugric linguistic family, which also includes various languages spoken in territories around the Caucasus, Siberia, and the Baltic area (Finnish and Estonian).

Once an equal partner in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Hungary became a separate country when the Empire was broken up after World War I. It allied itself again with Germany in World War II. After that war, it endured Communist rule until recently.
