Hydrogen

Hydrogen is the smallest element, consisting of only one proton and one electron. It is highly explosive, and combustion yields water.

It used to be used in blimps, until the Hindenburg disaster demonstrated that to be an unsafe practice.

Today hydrogen is being investigated as a fuel. It burns cleanly, but is difficult to store and inefficient to produce.
