Kim Jong-chul is a musician from North Korea, and a member of the prominent Kim family, that has provided the country's leaders for the last seven decades.

Kim Jong-chul, and his two younger sibling, Kim Jong-un and Kim Yo-jong lived in Switzerland and attended school there, when they were children.

His younger brother Kim Jong-un replaced their father, Kim Jong-il, as North Korea's leader, when he died, in December, 2011. While his sister, Kim Yo-jong, holds powerful government positions, and is their brother's closest and most trusted advisor, Kim Jong-chul plays no role in the government.

The trio have or had several half-siblings, including Kim Jong-nam, who was the target of a bizarre murder, in February, 2017, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Kim Jong-chul is known to be a dedicated fan of the guitarist Eric Clapton, and is reported to be a very talented guitarists, himself.
