Korea

Korea is a country in northeast Asia, located on a peninsula in the Pacific Ocean. Since the late 1940's, it has been divided into North Korea and South Korea.

Korea's neighbors include Russia to the north, China to the west, and Japan to the east. During World War II, Korea was occupied by the Japanese, and many people were killed. Scarcely five years later the Korean War pitted the Communist north against the capitalist south.
