Libya
Libya is a country in north Africa. Tunisia and Algeria are to the west, and Egypt is to the east. Niger, Chad, and Sudan are to the south.
Most of Libya is covered by the Sahara Desert, and the population is concentrated along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, in the north.
Until 2011, it was ruled by dictator Moammar Gadhafi, who was deposed and killed in a civil war encouraged and supported by other Arab countries and NATO.
It was formerly ruled by Italy, and maintains close ties.
