M6731 (minesweeper)
The M6731 is a minesweeper operated by the Estonian Navy.[1]
The ship intercepted the tanker Kiwali on April 14, 2025. The Kiwali had been registered in Djoubiti, but, by April 2025, she was no longer registered there.[1] Estonian authorities suspected the Kiwali was part of Russia shadow fleet. Russia has been under sanctions, since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, barring it from exporting petroleum products. To evade those sanctions Russia has assembled a fleet of vessels that carry Russian oil to cooperating countries, like India and China. Small Russian coastal tankers load the larger shadow fleet vessels, on the high seas.
