Matilda (tanker)
The Matilda is a tanker.[1][2] She is sailing under the Maltese flag. Her gross tonnage and deadweight tonnage are 62,775 and 112,935 tons, respectively.
She was one of several tankers attacked by unmanned aerial aircraft, when transitting the Black Sea, on January 13, 2026.[1] All the vessels were near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium export terminal off the Russian port of Novorossiysk.[3][4]
No lives were lost.[5] Matilda, and another tanker, the Delta Harmony, fled.

One of the most damaged vessels is believed to be the Matilda, operated by the Greek company Thenamaris. According to a spokesperson for Thenamaris contacted by Euronews, “A fire broke out on deck, but it was immediately brought under control: the damage was minor and completely repairable, and no injuries were reported.

One of the tankers attacked on Tuesday, the Delta Harmony, is managed by Greece's Delta Tankers, LSEG data showed. According to the sources, it was expected to load Kazakh-produced oil from Tengizchevroil, a unit of U.S. oil major Chevron.

The incidents occurred near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium export terminal off Novorossiysk, where CPC Blend crude from Kazakhstan is loaded for shipment to global markets. At least two tankers, Matilda and Delta Harmony, were confirmed hit by drones while waiting to load or manoeuvring near the terminal area. No crew were injured, and the damage was reportedly contained, but the attacks marked a significant escalation in the direct targeting of commercial vessels linked to energy exports.
