Nelson River

The Nelson River drains the prairies, and consequently it is full of silt. Its tributaries were navigable by steamboats, but the Nelson, itself, included a series of rapids.

The Nelson River is a powerful silt-laden river that empties from Lake Winnipeg into the Arctic Ocean at Port Nelson, Manitoba.
