Nevskaya Zastava

From Encyc
The Nevskaya Zastava was built with a low superstructure, so she could travel under Saint Petersburg's bridges.

The Nevskaya Zastava is a river icebreaker, built in 2010, that operates on the Neva river, that flows through St. Petersburg.[1]

In addition to working as an icebreaker, she can also use water cannons to fight fires, tow vessels like a tugboat, and contain spills of oil and toxic chemicals.[1]

Her wheelhouse can be raised or lowered, for passing under bridges.[1]

She is both propelled, and steered, by Z-drives.[2]

She was one of the vessel that participated in the 3rd Festival of Icebreakers, when it was held in St Petersburg, in 2016.[3]
