St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg or Saint Petersburg is a city in northwestern Russia. It is located on the Baltic Sea. Saint Petersburg was conquered by Peter the Great and became the capital of Russia for many years. It is known as the Venice of the North.
During World War II, the city was surrounded by the Germans and many people starved.
In the past it has been known as "Petrograd" (1914-1917) and "Leningrad" (1917-1991)
