Peru

Peru is a country on the west coast of South America. It is south of Columbia and north of Chile. Parts of Peru are high in the Andes Mountains, and were the site of the Inca civilization.

The area was conquered by the Spanish under Pizarro in the 16th century, and gold and silver taken off to Spain.

Later it became economically important for guano production.
