River Afan
Appearance

The River Afan (Afon Afan in Welsh) is a river in south Wales. The upper reaches of the river make up the Afan Valley.
The name of the river perhaps comes from "a-ban" ("from the heights") but this seems unusual, most likely it's from a personal name.
The river rises on the slopes of Mynydd Llangeinwyr, and flows west through Abergwynfi, Blaengwynfi, Cymmer and Pontrhydyfen before flowing south-west. There it reaches are more urban area, passing Cwmavon (Cwmafan in Welsh, literally "Afan valley") before exiting to the sea at Port Talbot.
