River Amman

Bridge over the River Amman, at Pontamman

The River Amman (Afon Aman in Welsh) is a river in south Wales.

Its source is in the Black Mountain of Carmarthenshire. The main river starts at the confluence of the Aman Fawr ("big Aman") and Aman Fach ("little Aman"). It then flows through Rhosamman, Brynamman, Garnant, Glanamman, Pontamman, and Ammanford, before joining with the River Loughor at Pantyffynnon.

It gets its name from the Welsh word "banw" ("pig"). Similar names include the Aman River in Rhondda Cynon Taf, and the River Banwy in Powys.
