The River Marteg (Afon Marteg in Welsh) is a river in central Powys, Wales.
Its source is in the hills between Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire, and then flows south-west through the Marteg Valley (Cwm Marteg), past Pantydwr and St Harmon, and exits into the River Wye at Aber Marteg, about 3 miles north-west of Rhayader.[1] Near Aber Marteg is a bridge called Pont Marteg, which crosses the river.
The river was mentioned in the works of 15th-century poet Lewis Glyn Cothi.[1]
The Gilfach Nature Reserve is located in the Marteg Valley.[2]
