Yugoslavia
(Redirected from Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia)
Yugoslavia was a country in the Balkan region of Europe. It was created in the aftermath of World War I from Serbia and bits of Austria-Hungary.
Following World War II was intended to have elections every 4 years. As Tito was considered a hero, having fought in the resistance against the Nazi occupation forces, he was declared President for Life. This would prove to have been a terrible mistake. His policies were good, and are praised by socialists even today, however, when he died, it created a ton of nationalist tension. The fall of the USSR would prove to be the last straw, and nationalists revolted, causing a brutal civil war that resulted in Western imperialists intervening.
It broke up in the early 1990's.
