Somalia

Somalia is a country in the Horn of Africa. It is notable as a base for pirates who have frequently captured ships in the Indian Ocean.

The country has experienced years of civil war and famine, and a United Nations relief force was chased out of the country by uncooperative warlords.

The capital, Mogadishu, was the scene of a catastrophic raid by the United States Delta Force and Army Rangers in the 1990s.
