After he joined the bar, in 1981, Cody worked as a legislative aide to William “Bill” E. Sadowski.[1] According to WLRN Miami-Dade, Florida, had, in recent decades, accepted hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Cuba and Haiti. They reported that the recent immigrants, and long-time black residents, were under-represented in politics, and, in 1986, Cody was hired to help sue the county authorities who had set the voting boundaries. In 1922 the plaintiffs Cody represented won, and the city was divided into thirteen new districts.

Political career

On September 20, 2025, Cody published a facebook post, about the recent shooting of Charlie Kirk, that triggered call for Florida's Governor to remove him from office.[2] The passages that seems to have stirred controversy started with quoting Kirk's support of the right to bear arms, “It’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God given rights.”

That night the Palmetto Bay council met to a packed crowd.[2] A discussion of his op-ed replaced the scheduled agenda. The other four members of the council voted to censure him, and requested an investigation from state authorities as to whether the Governor could remove him.

Writing career

Cody is the author of several political thrillers, including Lying in State and Soulless, and a number of children's books.
