T-34 tank
The T-34 Tank was a Soviet-built tank used during World War II and for decades afterwards. It was simple to mass-produce, but featured several very innovative design elements that made it the best tank in the world for its time.
T-34s were constructed so simply and crudely that the Germans at first mocked and dismissed the design.
Advantages[edit]
- Sloping armor
- High mobility
- Simple controls
- Powerful gun
- Easy to mass-produce
- Sophisticated suspension system
Swarms of T-34s overran German positions. The Germans, in response, tried to use their limited resources to build supertanks such as the Tiger, Panther, and King Tiger. These efforts failed, because those tanks were expensive to produce and not so much better that they justified their cost.
