Talk:Open company
Add topiccould encyc evolve into an open company? how? Wikademia
what if encyc operated on a subscription basis...
ppl when signing up would have to agree to something like:
My personal income is less/greater than 40000 USD per year.... if their personal income is over 40000 USD and they are over 18... then they would have to pay a subscription fee to view content unless they were contributors of a certain level? There might be no way of enforcing this...
Although.. if you lie to banks and the IRS it is considered fraud.. so if this model was adopted.. if someone was caught lying, would it be considered fraud? I dunno.. at times like these, i was I was a lawyer. :) Wikademia
perhaps Wikademia coudl drop the ads if a model like this was adopted... and if anyone actually visisted the site. lol. :/
- Interesting. Right now we have no income and essentially no expenses. The future??? Emperor 22:56, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- This could be implemented fairly easily, if desired, it seems. Well.. sort of.. perhaps.. in theory..
- There is NOCA and PayPal... It could be done on a voluntary basis.. during signup.. it would require editing the MediaWiki pages.. Special:Allmessages along with your browsers find feature should be able to pinpoint what should be edited.
The future???[edit]
From Noca[edit]
"We offer online merchants a secure payment system with zero fixed processing fees, zero start-up costs, zero recurring costs and rock-bottom transaction fees. Dramatically increased profit margins for you, and a fantastic e-commerce experience for your customers."
One possible revenue-creation method[edit]
One thing that might be win-win for everybody would be links to buy books in the reference section. That way the authors of the books get a chance to actually make some money, and we get a tiny cut. I haven't implemented this, but I don't think it should be completely off the table. Emperor 14:57, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- i think that that is an excellent idea.... I don't know what you do, how old you are, and where you are in life. I think the key to this would be to have it actually encourage participation though. For example... perhaps you want to earn 30,000 dollars a year.... perhaps 50,000. I couple years ago, I read that income up to 50,000 will conribute to happiness.
A proposal for an open company model that could _encourage_ participation[edit]
100% of any income would go to Emporor up until 1,000 dollars a month of revenue. 80% would go to Emp until 2,000$ a month 50% would go to Emp until 5000$ a month... after that.... 20% would go to Emp. All the rest of the profits would be distributed among pariicpants using some sort of trust/merit metric determined by the community.... something like that. I could impliment the same on Wikademia. This is just brainstorming of sorts..... I don't __know___ what _actually would_ _encourage particiatipion__ Wikademia
- What encourages participation or convinces people to use a product??? I didn't want to believe that Italians are the guys who consume the most mineral bottled water in the world. But then i saw a report which confirmed it, and the most common advertisings in television are those related to mineral water.
Then i knew already that Italy had a disproportionate number of mobile phones (3 mobile phones for every 2 people on average). Guess why? Insane advertising on television!
It's why Wikipedia is popular, and why Facebook is popular. They had help from the mainstream media and are frequently mentioned in the news. Internet is too young to be a strong method of attraction. What other explanations? Gridlock 20:12, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
