name

Ironic that the name refers to Chicago regarding itself as the USA's second most important city, or largest city, after NYC. In fact Los Angeles has been more populous for a very long time.

Mexico City was North America's most populous city, with Chicago ranking fourth, and Toronto fifth. Parochial local Toronto boosters started to crow when the population of the actual city of Toronto passed the population of the actual city of Chicago. Of course both Toronto and Chicago are dwarfed by the Greater Toronto Area and the Greater Chicago Area. These are the population stats that really matter, and the Greater Chicago Area still exceeds that of the Greater Toronto Area. Geo Swan (talk) 15:59, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
