Tom Bombadil
Tom Bombadil is a fictional character invented by J.R.R. Tolkien. He appears in the Lord of the Rings as a merry outdoorsman tending a magical enclave bordering the Old Forest. His wife is Goldberry.
Tom sings a lot of songs and has control over the trees and other living things in his area. He is very old and predates the coming of Sauron to Middle Earth.
Although the chapters with Tom Bombadil are a little slow to read and can seem irrelevant to the main story, some readers like them.
