Trefil
Appearance

Trefil is a village in the north-west of Blaenau Gwent, south Wales. It was historically in the Brecknockshire parish of Llangynidr, where it was the location of the Sardis Chapel and the Horeb Independent Chapel.[1]
Trefil is best known for being the highest village in all of Wales, at 1,341 feet above sea level.[2] As a result of its high altitude it faces harsh winters.[3] It has been used as an alien planet or far away desert in major film and TV productions due to its unique landscape.[4]
In the past the village had a quarry, opened in the 18th century to supply the nearby Sirhowy Ironworks with limestone.[5]
