Wind power
Appearance
Wind power is a sort of energy, sort of. It is collected by machines such as windmills or sails. In windmills, a rotating fan-shaped structure powers an electric generator or a set of gears linked to machinery. Sails are used to power ships. Wind power is free and renewable, but has the disadvantage of being inconsistent.
Wind power can be destructive to the environment. Offshore wind turbines can use millions of gallons of seawater for cooling purposes, which they strain, heat, and treat with chlorine, killing plankton and fish eggs. [1]
Germany took its nuclear power plants offline and now faces higher energy costs and loss of its manufacturing base.
