Air force

From Encyc

The term Air Force refers to a branch of a nation's military which primarily uses missiles and aircraft as weapons.

Not every nation operates an air force. Many nations armies and navies also field missiles and offensive aircraft.

During World War 2 the Luftwaffe, Germany's air force, operated 11 divisions of paratroopers, and almost all of their combat was infantry ground combat.

During World War 2 the US Army included the USAAF -- an "air corp". The United States Navy also operated many combat aircraft.
