Alcohols are compounds that consists of Carbon, Oxygen, and Hydrogen arranged in a certain way. Alcohols are liquid at room temperature and if you put them in the freezer. Ethyl alcohol (ethanol) is the kind prefered for drinking. Isopropyl alcohol is rubbing alcohol. The molecules have a carbon backbone with a hydroxyl group.
Sometimes humans use alcohol to do things that they otherwise would not do.

Alcoholic beverages are a mixture of ethyl alcohol, water, and flavorings. They are described in "proof", with 200 proof being 100% alcohol, 80 proof being 40% alcohol, etc.
