Cilcewydd is a hamlet in Powys, Wales. Historically it was part of the parish of Forden in Montgomeryshire. Today it is part of Forden with Leighton and Trelystan in local government.
The name derives from Cewydd, the "rain saint" of the 6th century. 'Cil' means 'corner' and is common in Welsh place names.
In the past it was a township in the parish of Forden (anglicised as Kilkewydd), also including the adjacent village of Fron.[1]
The local pub is the Square and Compass. Welshpool Airport is located on the opposite side of the River Severn from Cilcewydd.
In the 1930s there was a youth hostel and a mill in Cilcewydd.[2]
