Clarbeston (Treglarbes in Welsh) is a small village in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Historically it was also a parish which covered a small area.[1] St Martin of Tours Church may originate to medieval times and was almost entirely rebuilt in 1840-41.[2]
Clarbeston's population was last recorded separately in 1971, at 77 people.[3] As a community, Clarbeston was abolished in 1987[4] and is now part of Wiston community.
To the west of Clarbeston is the larger village Clarbeston Road which grew around a train station built in 1854. The station is still open on the West Wales line.
The place name Clarbeston means "Clarenbald's settlement". It was recorded as Clarebaldestun as early as the 12th century and as Clarebaston in 1338.[5] The Welsh name Treglarbes is a simple translation using the Welsh "tre" instead of the English "ton".
